Cooper Island Fun
Well, today was another fantastic and adventurous day to say the least. We started out by going to breakfast, which for me consisted of eggs and bacon once again. As always, it was delicious and filling, enough to where I wasn't hungry again until lunch time. After breakfast, we hopped onto the boat and went to our first dive...
David Davis-I
I am taking Marine Biology 2 because I like diving, and the ocean is an awesome place. I mean, I think so. I also really enjoyed the course last year, so moving to the second level just makes sense. I can't wait to go visit the BVI again, and hopefully see tons of interesting and new...
Day 4 (kinda) and day 5
Day 4: no blog
Day 5:
Beep beep beep, my alarm clock goes off at 5:45 am. Christian and I wake up to go for a run. We meet up with Casey around 6:15 at the cattle guard to go on a relatively "easy" run. At first the run was flat and relaxing but soon afterwards it got steep...
Saving the Reef, one Piece of Coral at a Time
Today. The last day of diving here in the BVI. Gotta make this interesting.
So today started like every previous day so far: wake up, back to sleep, get up, shower, change, bus, and breakfast. Today, however, was coral planting day. We mighty, manly men of Marine 2 went first to...
Setting Up the Camera
Despite a late night yesterday, we managed to wake up without incident to, surprisingly enough, our alarms. Not to be bested, our roosters of course reminded us of their presence for the ensuing hour that we gathered all of our gear. Breakfast was served at a restaurant in the marina. Afterwards, the marine biology 2 guys went to Casey...
All in a Day’s Work
Day 3 Recap
Our day started as usual. We woke up, grabbed our stuff, and were on the taxi by 8:00. For breakfast I tried the hot oats with fruit. The fruit on this island is absolutely amazing! The oats were pretty good, but were second to the bacon and cheese omelette. After breakfast we had a briefing on sea...
Day 6 Trash & Goodbye for now
Today we got to sleep in because breakfast was at the teachers hut at 9:00 am. I slept in until about 8:20, got up, and then got ready for the day. Today for breakfast I had a chocolate covered donut, a nutria grain bar, and water. After breakfast we had some free time, so we played some card games...
Our Final Day on Virgin Gorda
All in all, today was a pretty nice day. We didn't have breakfast until 9 this morning, so we all got to sleep in a decent amount. I think I woke up at around 8:30, and it was fantastic to get that extra sleep. Once we were awake, though, we went down to the teachers' cabin and ate breakfast....
Why did I take this course?
I took this course because I took Marine Biology 1 last year and I wanted to continue to study the course materials and see the improvement of the coral that our group transplanted last year. I also am fascinated by the ocean and love to study the fish and microscopic organisms that make it up.
