Well, after a long day of travel yesterday, I was ready for a full day of diving today. However, the night did not go undisturbed, as Jack, Christian, and I found a scorpion in our room at around 10:30 last night. That had me up for a while, paranoid that I would have thousands of scorpions crawling all over me in the night. But I was able to eventually fall asleep, and awoke refreshed and ready to dive. We didn’t dive immediately though, for we had orientation to go through. That started at around 7:45, and it went through 12:15. It was pretty nice to get a little refresher about everything, and it helped to pump me up even more for the dives later in the day. After we had finished orientation and lunch, we disembarked on our first dive of the trip, a trip to our old reef site. It was very sad to see everything broken and knocked over due to people anchoring on and around our reef. After this though, we went and scouted our new reef site and looked for suitable places to put our camera. This site was incredible to see because of the amount of life that was there. My dive buddy, Chris, and I saw five reef squid and followed them for about five minutes, which eventually ended when two of them inked on me. That pretty much marked the end of our dives for the day, and then we went back to the cabins and relaxed before dinner. Which is where I am at now, writing this blog post. So that’s about it for the day, a pretty special first day back in the BVI. Needless to say, I cannot wait to see what the rest of the week brings to me.
