Day 13

0

Today was by far my favorite day here in the BVI! We started out in the regular classroom period of the class in Ole Yard Village where we eat breakfast every morning. Our classroom period was significantly shorter than the previous days which put everyone in a great mood. Only after about an hour and a half of classroom time and eating there, we head out to Savannah Bay. This was one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. The beach was just pristine and we then snorkeled there and I saw more marine life there than I have the past two days diving. I saw a moon jellyfish, trumpetfish, sea urchins, butterfly fish, grouper, and some crabs. Some of the reefs I couldn’t even swim over because they were so close to the surface of the water. But, I still saw so many fish! The purpose of going to Savannah Bay was to finish learning how to lay a transecting line and count the fish along the line before our actual Reef Check on Friday.

After eating lunch on the beach and going out for a second snorkeling trip, we went back to our houses in Guavaberry for a little to rest before going to the Baths. The Baths were really cool too because there was a little path that took us through the huge rocks that made the “baths” and we ended up at Devil’s Bay at the end of the path. We went back to our houses and got changed out of our bathing suits for dinner at a Mexican buffet called Bath and Turtle down by the marina. After eating, we went over next door and just hung outside at a place playing music. It was really good bonding time with the other guys on the trip.

Tomorrow is probably going to be just as great as today because we don’t have and classroom time and we are diving and snorkeling the entire day!
