Day Five – Colin Taylor

Once again, I’m the late blogger, but alas, I hear slow and steady wins the race! On to the meat of this post, today we learned about the zonation of the ocean, (yes I realize this is the thrid time you will be thinking to yourself, why on earth, is this in a marine biology course). Well other than the obvious (it has to do with the ocean), the zonation determines what type of organisms live and survive where. A few quick examples, the photic range for instance would be all the organisms that rely on photosynesis to survive, such as phytoplankton, and the animals that prey on them. And on the complete opposite of the spectrum, the Hedal zone where only animals that can withstand extreme pressure and do not need light as an energy source survive. So after a week
I have now aquired knowledge in vasts amounts due to the great teaching of Dr. Gruninger and Mr. Kirby (Sorry, I just had to.), and i must now place them in a map to show my lovely teachers, how much they have actually taught me. Goodnight all!

Awesome pic of the day
