First Day – Colin Taylor

Hi, for those who are reading along, welcome to my section of the Jesuit Marine Biology blog. Hope you enjoy. Personally I’m looking to get quite a lot from this course (but alas, this assignment only allows me to post two).

First I must say I am thouroughly looking forward to learning the hands on skills such as dissecting, research and most importantly, knowledgable and coherent note taking skills. And aside from that, I am also looking forward to learning what is happening on the molecular level.

Personally my favorte marine animal would probably have to be phytoplankton, because to the uneducated eye, they are quite boring and seemingly useless, when in fact they provide over 50% of the world’s oxygen (amazing right?).

And the last subject that I must address is diving experience. I must admit that I am a new diver but was quite excited and enthralled by the ability to be 60 feet under water…and still breathe (because secretly I’ve always wanted gills)

And for my awesome marine biology pic of the day…
