Day 16 – Footprints in the Sand

Today was about giving back. To tell you the truth, this amazing week wouldn’t have been possible without the months of preparation and hard work of the Dive BVI Team, Mr. Kirby, Doc, and Speedy. Many people don’t realize that this is Jesuit’s first stab at trying a class like this, and a lot of people are looking at the outcome of this trip to determine the future of both the Jesuit Marine Bio program and other proposed trips. Even under the tremendous amount of pressure, the program ran flawless.

So today, for the program that gave us so much, we dedicated an entire day to give back. First thing this morning we went to the Virgin Gorda branch of VISAR, the Virgin Island’s Search and Rescue organization. We helped them with general maintenance, things like washing the boat, painting the shed, etc., etc. After a small shopping spree for my family at Dive BVI, we returned to the cabin for some much needed downtime. Around 5:30, we packed up and headed to church for a Saturday vigil, and then to The Mine Shaft for our delicious banquet dinner.

Tomorrow is an early morning and I have a long day of travel, so until next year…
