Marine Biology Day 11

Today officially began at 7 AM when we woke up to commence our island session. Yesterday when we arrived, I was assigned the closest room to the resort office. I have to say, this has exceeded my expectations. We gathered at the designated spot assigned last night. We boarded “Speedy’s” taxi, which then took drove us to eat breakfast.

When everyone had finished breakfast, the staff of Dive BVI reintroduced themselves and gaves us an over view of the week, split us into groups (I was put into Team Sea Monkey along with my friend Alec Sellick,) and history/details of island Gorda, such as the lion fish invasion, 2005 being the most hot year for the ocean at BVI, and different cultural effects we have on the. ocean. There was much more but these were the ones that got my attention. After we had a couple minutes of break and were than driven to the docks, where we took a look inside the shop.

We were than called to the boats to be briefed on our scuba diving for the day, it was pretty much a review of our skills but I enjoyed it. We than went on an adventure dive which was very neat. I saw many neat organisms including sea cucumbers, butterfly fish, parrot fish, fire coral, arrow crab, and so much more. If this is what I saw today imagine how much more I will find in open waters.

Right now we are about to go to the beach to have a cookout. This concludes day 11.
