Day 4 in the Caymans

We encountered a very similar day today compared to the others. On the boat and out to the site all before about 8:30. Our first dive was at Big Dipper where I reached the depth of 100 feet for the first time! It is a beautiful reef made up of coral fingers like those in the Big Tunnel dive....

Dive Log: Day 4

Today we had to board the boat on a dock around the corner of the island. A pretty bad thunderstorm was pushing through when we woke up and the water right out front of the hotel was too rough. Rain aside, we were all excited to get back in the water and visit our first stop: the Big Dipper....

Day 4

The beginning of my day today was pretty similar to yesterday as I started the day off today at 6:30 A.M. before heading to breakfast at 7. After breakfast, my classmates and I headed out to our morning dives. However, because of heavy rain and thunderstorms, we were bussed to the other side of the island to do so....

Day 4- Unexpected Adventures

Today started off quite literally wtih a bang, as roaring thunder woke me from my sleep around 6 AM. It turns out that thunder was the first of many during the 4 hour storm that had entered the NortrhWestern side of Grand Cayman, right where our hotel was located. Even as the rain poured, our divemasters for the day,...

Grand Caymans Day 4

The morning started with heavy rains, after the rain calmed down we took the van to the boat because of the choppy water outside the resort. Our first dive was at a site called Big Dipper, on one side of the reef is a sandy floor and the other, a wall, that goes deeper than 100 ft. When swimming...

Marine Biology Day 4: 7-16

The day began with a rough thunderstorm which cleared just in time for our morning dive. We proceeded to dive at the edge of a coral reef overlooking the deep blue. We followed the wall of the reef and observed some curious pufferfish hiding shyly behind large clumps of coral. On the second dive that morning, we explored a...

Cayman Islands: Day 4

Day 4 started very similar to Day 3: up at 7 and on the boat by 7:30 after driving to the alternate dock. We began our journey by traveling to a reef called the Big Dipper, which was right off the 7 mile beach. Excited for our first dive of the day, me and my dive buddies hopped into...

Day 4

Tuesday morning started off with a surprise thunder storm on our side of the island. I was afraid for a little while that the rain would interfere with our ability to dive. Luckily a short bus ride to another dock with clear skies allowed us to continue as planned. The morning dives were good. On one I was able...

Day 3 in the Grand Caymans (7/15/19)

We woke up bright and early to eat a nutritious breakfast before going off to our two dive sites of the day: Big Tunnels and Bonnie's Arch. Behind the Manta Ray dive we went on last year in Hawaii, Big Tunnels has been my favorite dive set yet. It was truly an experience to remember. Big Tunnels was truly a...
