Hi my name is Matt Hellinghausen!
I am very excited to be a part of the first Marine Biology course here at Jesuit. I am excited to be immersed in a unique learning environment that is far different from the traditional classroom setting. There are two things that I want to get out of this class: 1) to effectively use my personal research and the research of others to learn about Marine Biology and 2) to take advantage of the unique opportunity to study marine animals in their natural habitat.
My favorite marine organism is the sea turtle.
Currently, I am becoming Open Water Certified at Lone Star Scuba. I have already completed the pool and classroom portion of the certification and I will complete the Open Water portion of the certification this weekend at Clear Spring Scuba Park (CSSP). After I return from the trip, I plan to become Advance Open Water Certified, which will allow me to specialize in certain aspects of diving.
