Day 14 – Double the tanks, Double the fun

1

Today was a major dive, a two tank dive. A two tank dive is a dive in which you complete a normal dive, followed by a surface interval (about 45m- 1h) which alleviates excess nitrogen from your blood, then another complete dive. Our first dive site was the wreck of the RMS Rhone, a ship which wrecked during a hurricane. It was one of the first ships that had a propeller and deemed “unsinkable” because of its iron hull construction. This obviously wasn’t true…

Our second dive site was a clam area of water (the conditions were more rough than other days). We practiced our Fish ID skills by swimming along and identifying different species of fish as we combed the reefs. This proved to be much more challenging than I anticipated. We ate lunch at Cooper Island Beach Club. After lunch, we snorkeled and Casey (the Sea Dragons DM) speared a lionfish. We dissected it when we returned only to find its stomach empty. We finished the day tired and hungry. We’re off to Mad Dog for dinner now…
