Today we began class by discussing two articles. The first article was about the mimic octopus and how it can mimic other animals to stay away from predators. We saw a video on the mimic octopus and how it changes forms to pretend to be either a sea snake or something else. The second article was about ecotourism and how it can affect the eating habits of great white sharks. The second half of class we dissected a perch and dogfish shark. They were both injected with latex so that we could easily see the internal anatomy and circulatory system of each. The dogfish shark was my favorite to dissect because of all the things there was to notice about it. The dogfish shark’s skin was like sand paper and as one would expect its teeth were very sharp. Today’s class was a great hands on experience on learning the internal anatomy of both a perch and dogfish shark.
