Today in class Mr. Kirby taught us about plankton and algae in the oceans around the world. The lesson was worthwhile because I learned so much. I actually found out that some plankton even feed on other plankton to survive. I also learned that most marine organisms begin their lives as plankton because they are so small and can travel with the currents. To tie this into the overall goal of the course is pretty simple. Marine Biology is all about studying the growth and development of fish and other marine life. So, it is important to understand how the young marine life grows and develops from plankton to mature adulthood.
