Today marks the third day of my magnificent voyage in the Land of Gorda. I awoke early this morning around 7:45 to change and apply sunscreen…not enough I guess because I got a pretty nice sun burn on my back…haha. After breakfast this morning, Casey led the group through a discussion over coral reefs and the different things that can affect it in life. We talked about overfishing, pollution, oil run off, and many other harmful things. After that long discussion, Casey laid out a transverse line across the room. This line covers 100 meters in the water with markings every 5 meters (of course we didn’t lay out all 100 meters in the classroom). We went over the different techniques and practices that we are going to perform on Friday for our FISH ID dive. Hopefully, I am part of the team that counts the number of invertebrates because counting fish seems to hard and difficult…haha. As soon as we finished, we took off for Savannah Bay to have a picnic lunch and do some snorkeling. We had a nice lunch, and then I hopped in the water to admire the barrier reef around the bay. I loved being in the water because I got to see so many cool fish and invertebrates along the bottom. I also got to swim close to a pretty large moon jellyfish and touch and play with it. I had so much fun snorkeling that I continued to swim out farther and farther. I refused to come back toward shore because I was having too much fun, but I eventually came back. After snorkeling we headed toward the Baths and Devil’s Bay. We traveled through a path of huge boulders and small pools till we got to a bay at the very end. We swam and hung out. Then we hopped out and headed to Bath and Turtle to eat dinner. It was a spectacular meal of Caribbean buffet full of all different types of meats and vegetables. As soon as we were full, we headed over to the dance floor to let out all our energy. The dancing was on and off for a while because a few people were a little shy, but it was fun. Now we are back at Guava berry, and I’m writing my blog. I’m pooped, so this is all readers.
