Day 3 6/22/11-Wednesday
Subduction Disorder
Today was our third day of class, we all had random facts about marine biology in our young and innocent minds, but we still lacked the ability to connect the dots. Although not everything isn’t clear to me yet, I know that my loving teachers will help light the path to a clearer mind.
Today we discussed the history of the earth as a whole. For example we talked about Pangea, which was one large landmass 250 million years ago which combined all the continents. This happens because the plates of the earth are always moving. The changing of are plates I’d related to marine biology because it created the oceans that we know today. Also since th is constant plate movement the oceans will be always be changing, using our knowledge of plate tectonics we can predict the changes that will occur to the oceans.
