Marine biology Day 2

0

Today in class we went over the two readings we had read the prior night. These readings were pretty difficult to follow, but I was amazed at how much I had retained and could analyze in class. We also went over the process of conducting an experiment. Dr. Gruninger walked us through an experiment that he had conducted on the correlation of food to sex drive in a species of worms. I found this experiment very interesting mainly because of the way he conducted it. He extracted the gene jellyfish have that makes them glow in order to monitor the amount of food they eat and to track their movement. Dr. Gruninger talked about the difficulty in publishing a piece of work in respective fields of study. He explained that if a certain study or piece of work wasn’t accepted then more trials would have to be produced or you would have to change you experiment entirely. Overall today was a very good and engaging day of class.
