Today was a pretty amazing day. I woke up early to the sound of roosters and dogs barking, but that had no impact on how the events of the day unfolded. After we were all up and had left the hotel, we went to a small room down by the ocean for breakfast and some class time. The information that was presented to us was very informative, and I learned quite a bit. The day really hadn’t started yet, as we hadn’t actually gotten into the water. When we had finished the classroom activities, we hopped onto our bus and headed to the marina. After we had hopped onto our boats and had the safety briefing, we went out to do a check out dive and to see “The Chimney”. The dive spot is called “The Chimney” because of it’s surrounding rock formations. The dive was incredible. There were so many different fish and so many different colors. The rocks even looked like they were colored just because of the coral that was living on them. When we swam through the rock formation, I was astounded at how many different species of fish lived inside the rocks. There were squirrelfish, parrotfish, blue tangs, angelfish, and many other different types of fish that provided so many different colors. It was by far one of the coolest experiences I have ever had in my life so far, and I hope to do a lot more diving in my life. I also think that it wouldn’t have been the same if I had been with a different group of people, because the friends and the teachers and instructors I am with made a good experience an incredible experience, and I thank them for that.
