Today we woke up at 7:30. I got ready and we met down by the gate at Guavaberry. After we met by the gate, we took a taxi straight to the marina. Once at the marina we ate breakfast and got ready to go diving. After breakfast, we put on sunscreen and boarded the boat. I was on the Sea Dragon again. Then we took off to the wreck of the Rhone. The boat ride there was about 30 minutes. Once we got to the wreck, we were briefed on where to go and what we would see. We got our gear on and headed down to the bow of the wreck. My buddy for the dive was Luke Curran. Once down there, we saw all kinds of marine life, such as trumpet fish and we even saw a puffer fish. We also saw the crows nest on the boat. Then we ascended and Casey told us a story of what happened to the Rhone. Long story short, the boat got stuck in a hurricane and hit Black Rock Point. After the hit, the steam engines exploded, splitting the boat into two. Two boats have been deemed unsinkable, the Titanic and the Rhone, and both sank. After we were given a story of the Rhone, we went back down to the stern of the wreck. There, we saw the propeller, the silver spoon, and the lucky window of cabin 26, which we were supposed to rub for good luck. We saw sponges, coral, and even a turtle on that dive. After we dove the entire Rhone, we headed for lunch at Cooper Island Beach Club. While we were waiting for our food we found some coconuts and attempted to get them open. I failed to do so, but some of my friends were able to get them open. At lunch, we had some very tasty fish and chips at the restaurant. After lunch, the general manager of the resort, Andy, showed us some ways in which Cooper Island eco-friendly and green. They use eco-friendly cups, solar panels, bioreactor to eliminate waste. They was recycle grey water, water used from the sinks and showers, to flower the plants. Andy told us that going green may be very costly in the short term, but will pay for itself and more in the long term. After Andy gave us the speech about Cooper Island, we snorkeled on the beach area right by the resort. During the snorkel, I saw a tarpon, a turtle, a starfish, an eel, and a couple of sting rays. I could tell the turtle we saw was tagged, because it had a metal piece in its fins. After the snorkel we took the Sea Dragon back to the marina. The ride was about 30 minutes. After we got back to the marina, we headed back to Guavaberry to get ready for dinner. I showered and then played frisbee while we were getting to go to dinner. Then, we went to dinner at Mad Dogs. This time we had lasagna for dinner. After dinner, I had a chocolate brownie sundae and then we played corn hole. After desert and corn hole, Casey gave a presentation on how to replant coral and to let us know that Jesuit is creating its own reef. After the presentation, we filled out our dive logs for yesterday and today. Then, we headed to the wifi room to write our blogs.
