Today we woke up at 7:30 for an early start. We took a taxi to Old Yard. The taxi driver’s name was Glen. Once there, we ate breakfast and were given an overview of the day by Casey. We then practiced holding our breath and lowering our heart rate underwater and my record was a minute and fifteen seconds. This can be achieved by relaxing and focusing on a happy thought. Then, the head of the turtle conservation in the BVI, Joel Dore, gave us a speech over all the different types of turtles and how to handle them in the BVI. After we practiced holding our breath underwater, we rode over to the boat we would be taking to go tag the turtles. The boat was called the Sea Dragon. We took this boat to Little Dix Bay. Once there, Joel took some of us out to find a turtle. A guy named Carl was able to catch one so we could tag it. While some of us looked for a turtle, the rest of us, including myself, snorkeled around the bay. We even found a sting ray. Once they caught the turtle, they brought it back onto the boat and we tagged the turtle in its flippers. The turtle was a Hawksbill turtle, which are abundant in the BVI. Then we named the turtle, Squirtle. Before we left, we saw a barracuda under our boat, which is my picture of the day. Then we rode back to the marina and ate at the Rendezvous Bar. Once there, I had the Volcano burger. After lunch, we rode back to our cabins to get ready to go to the Baths. Then, we walked to the Baths, which is a national park. The Baths were formed from the overlapping of tectonic plates. We took a tour of the Baths and then went snorkeling. I got stung by a couple of jellyfish, but they didn’t hurt that bad. We saw a lot of wildlife while we were snorkeling. I saw a sting ray, a turtle, a trumpetfish, and various other fish and coral. Then, we snorkeled back to our cabins at Guavaberry. After we snorkeled, we got ready for dinner at Mad Dogs. While we were waiting for dinner, we played frisbee again. This time for dinner, we had quesadillas and nachos, which were very good. After dinner, we played corn hole again and then watched a video over cetacean hunting. After we watched the video, we walked back to the wifi room to write our blogs.
