The squirrelfish does not grow to be very big. The average size of a squirrelfish is 6-14 in long, but they can reach up to 20 in. The squirrelfish is nocturnal and also a ray finned fish. These fish have very large eyes and live near coral reefs. One interesting fact about these fish that I learned was that there are at least 80 species of them. They feed on invertebrates and small fish near the bottom of the reef. Squirrelfish can communicate with each other by vibrating their swimbladders to make sounds.
