4th day in the BVI…

3

Today differed from all the other days. We didn’t eat at the hotel that we usually have breakfast and lunch at. We went straight to the marina to have a quick lunch, so that we could hit the water early to get in our two planned dives. We headed toward the wreck of the Rhone to start our first dive. We got our gear set up and quickly descended to 50ft. Immediately, I was surrounded by a great amount of yellowtail snapper. These fish are mostly white with a long yellow line running along side it and ending with a yellow tail. I was amazed by how friendly the fish acted toward me. After getting settled down under water, Andrew and the rest of us headed toward the wrecked ship. It was really cool seeing all the coral and animals living on the old metal and pieces of ship. We got to actually travel under part of the ship. It was awkward traveling under a large piece metal, but I of course toughed it out. After 40 minutes, we surfaced and rested for an hour before going back for another dive. We headed to the chromis reef for the dive. The wind was acting up and causing large swells, so we took cover behind Cooper Island. We decided to take a fish count on this particular reef. I took the count very seriously and recorded more fish than most people on my boat. After we finished the two dives, we went to lunch on Cooper’s Island. We sat down to a nice fish and chips (fries) lunch. We relaxed at the restaurant and threw a coconut around. I was throwing like Brett Favre out there, but Nick couldn’t catch anything. The spectators at the restaurant were making comments about my cannon and Nick’s stone hands…haha. Soon after we headed a little down the beach to enjoy a relaxing snorkeling adventure. I personally saw 8 sting rays, a numerous amount of urchins, tons of fish, and a medium sized Hawksbill Sea Turtle. It was so peaceful swimming through the water. Only Brody, Connor, and I saw it, so everyone was jealous. But, a few others saw a lion fish, and they witnessed Casey kill it with a spear gun. She did this of course because the Lionfish is an invasive species that eats everything. They are beautiful fish, but very dangerous to coral reefs. After snorkeling we went back to our rooms and then to MadDogs for lunch. We had a nice Mexican food dinner full of quesadillas and nachos. Then we got to watch the sun set. It was a lovely sight to see. Now I’m back at the main room writing my blog, so good night world
