Fourth day of BVI – David Smith

Today started, instead of starting of in a classroom, we went straight to the marina and met up with Casey, Andrew, Sam, and Jeff. We got lunch from them, and then went to the dive site. We dove on the R.M.S Rhone, which was a carfo ship that also carried passengers. Casey told us that it was designed by White Stare lines, who apparently didn’t have a very good history of sturdy ships. It was a really cool dive, and the ship was amazing. The coolest thing we saw was a giant angelfish, which was probably two and a half feet long, much bigger than any other angelfish we’ve seen. Another cool thing was swimming through a part of the reck, and ending up at the propeller. It was a lot bigfer than I had thought they would be.

After that, we went to a path reef. We went down, and Nick made the sign for shark. I was really excited and looked around for it, and saw a really big fish. Then Jeff told us it was a tarpin. It was still really cool, but I was a little disappointed. I then went around the reef, and saw a lot of blue tang, which are what Dory, from Finding Nemo, was. It was an interesting dive because of the sheer abount of fish we saw.

After lunch, we went into the cove, and went snorkling. I jumped in the water, and almost immeditely saw an eagle ray. It was really cool. We also saw a big barracuda, that had a fish hook stuck in the mouth. We also was a ton of bait fish and juvenile fish. I was swimming with Casey, and then Mr. Kirby came over and said he thought he had seen a lionfish. We went to where he told us, and sure enough, there it was. Casey went back to the boat, and came back with a spear gun, and killed it. We then went back to the boat, and went back to the island.
