Marine biology- day 3

1

Today started a little later than yesterday, seeming as I got to bed around an hour and a half earlier, and woke up thirty minutes later. We began the day with a coral introduction by Sam. She talked about the negative impacts on coral and how we can preserve it. After that, Andrew talked to us about the different fish found around the BVI and gave us an underwater fish identification book to use for the week. Wethen proceeded to have lunch, us Jesuit guys are ravenous when it comes to food. After a hearty lunch we took our taxi to the marina to begin our second dive this week. Aboard boat “Sea Monkey”, we noticed a shipwreck from 1994 and we were all interested. We then stopped at Ginger Island and quickly got in the water. Sam took my dive group about 45 feet underwater and we saw many perrot fish, trumpet fish, and we even got up close to some fire coral. After our 43 minute dive, we came up to the surface and snorkled for a few minutes. I saw to squid and Sean tried to scare them so they would “ink”, unfortunately it failed. Tonight we are going to a resturant called “Mad Dogs” to have pizza. I’ll be sure to upload another blog post tomorrow and keep everyone informed!
