After strapping up my BCD and leaping into the water it was finally time to scuba dive, Today is our second day in the Cayman Islands and we had our first two dives. After descending with buddy’s Sam and Brandon for the first dive a whole new wold was down below me. Immediately as I descended I spotted a small school of Blue Tang that caught my eye do to their small size and distinct blue color. Throughout the first dive at “Schoolhouse” I spotted many Sergeant major do to their distinct stripes on their sides. The Sergeant ahora would travel in groups of usually one or two and I saw many throughout the dive. While diving even deeper with Sam and Brandon I thought I saw a Sergeant major but when I got closer I saw the black stripe across the top of the fish and new that it was a Banded Butterflyfish. The one fish that caught my eye on the first dive was the Black Durgon. I saw two very dark black fish swimming in front of me and they caught my eye. This particular fish had two soft dorsal fins that were saying one on top and one on the bottom. We did not cover the Black durgon during class so seeing the fishing while diving today was something special.
Our second dive we headed to the Rainbow Reef, it s called Rainbow Reef because this reef is known for the abundance of Rainbow Parrot fish. This time I buddied up with Carlo and Blake; as soon as we jumped in the water we decided to descend and explore the new reef. One fish that we saw a lot was the Princess Parrot fish. This fish was very large and big, ‘this fish swam next to the group for the majority of the dive and didn’t stop amazing us. This big Parrot fish looked gray underwater because when you are scuba diving the colors you see underwater change. While diving with my new buddies we managed to see a lot of Angelfish, the Angelfish were easy. To spot because of their distinctive feature. The Foureye has a black circle on its back. The Spotfin had a small spot on its fin, the reef fish had two stripes and the Banded has many stripes. My favorite creature that I saw was a White-spotted Lobster. While we were diving under an archway in a small cave I spotted two whiskers poking out of small chasm. This lobster was peaking out of the cave while we were diving. Today’s two dives were great and I cannot wait for the adventure that lies ahead.
