On day 5, I was told I wasn’t going to be ale to participate in the blackwater dive due to safety concerns along with 8 other people from the whole team. After hearing the news, I was ready to see what else we could do that day. My group went off first to a submarine off the western Kona coast. We traveled far and deep down to 110 feet and ventured through a ship wreck, tires and chairs, along with deep sea fish I hadn’t seen throughout the trip. After this adventure, we drove off to a freshwater pit that had many small crustaceans filled throughout the cavern. The water was super cold, especially because we did not have our wetsuits I was accustomed to wearing in the colder water. It was a cool experience in both locations to see new fish and sea animals I hadn’t seen yet!
