To begin the day, I along with my fellow Siphonophores went out onto a Zodiac boat tour of Kealakekua. On our ride there, we spotted some pilot whales, which to the captain, was considered a needle in a haystack find. After tracking them for about 20-30 minutes, we continued our movement to the snorkel site. Stopping in the cove, my group and I geared up and backflipped into the sea. Swimming around below us was an array of different types, color, and sized fish. My buddy group was most interested in the parrotfish and a white eel we caught on camera just before we got out. After we continued our drive back, we saw some spinner dolphins and had the chance to dive down and swim with them! After that eventful morning, we came back and rested up for our manta night dive! We dove down at around 30 feet and set up our “campfire” of lights, allowing the manta to see plankton. I believe I was in the best spot in the whole circle as the manta rays continued to glide above me, often touching my head or fins! This was one of if not my favorite day of the trip so far and I am stoked for tomorrow!
