Day 2

Three things I learned:

The first thing I learned during our OTEC lecture was that ocean energy thermal conversion can attribute a large amount of our nations energy at such low costs. The second thing I learned was that the cost of water that is taken from the deep sea by the NELHA is not only more clean, but priced lower per 1,000L than the national average cost. Lastly, I learned about how algae is being farmed and used to turn to biodiesel, and in my eyes that is ground breaking, because if we as US Citizens can rely on other resources besides fossil fuels to move cars and power machinery, then we can change not only our environmental impacts, but also can change the outlay of our diplomatic plans.

My favorite thing about today:

Honestly I felt like our hike today was unbelievably amazing. Not only was the scenery breathtaking. But our group formed a legitimate bond. We turned a normal 30 min climb into a 17 minute one, but we saw a bull. The most amazing part was just realizing while we were on the beach/in the forest, swinging on that aesthetically placed rope swing in the midst of a grass paradise, we were all connected as brothers.
