On my second day in Marine Biology, I leaned many intriuging things about the different fields that one could study concerning the ocean. Since this is just a blog post, I will sum up my day into three interesting things that I learned. First, I leaned how scientists in the North Sea have studied the mass shifts of several species of fish in conjunction with the rising average temperatures in the water due to climate change. Next I learned about the major field of microbiology and the major importnace of the way in which the different microorganisms interact with the ocean’s properties and other marine forms of life. Finally, I learned about Physical Oceanographers and how they test different things such as salinity of the water and temperature to determine how the properties of the oceans(i.e waves and current movement) interact with and affect several aspects of the envirionment.
