Hi, my name is Hayden Tompkins and today I am beginning a 3-week, Marine Biology course at Jesuit. To me, this signifies the beginning of a major journey in my life because this is a field of science that I have loved my whole life. Even though this may only be 3 weeks, it is a first-time course for Jesuit to do and we will be going through several pretty amazing things, including an exhilarating trip to the British Virgin Islands on our third week. In this class, I expect to learn everything about the underwater world, including the mechanisms of the ecosystem and research techniques into the many functions of the organisms. There are many ocean animals I love, but I would say my favorite one right now is the octopus. In the trip to the islands I know I will be scuba diving in the waters. I am very excited for this experience because i have gone through it and had a lot of fun with the whole process. I do not know what will come of me in this journey, but I do know that I am taking one of the best opportunities in my life, a step toward my care.
