Today was a whirlwind! It all started at 8AM when Will’s Iphone alarm went off and awoke the cabin. We made our way down to the taxi to head the the marina for a quick bite to eat and head straight to the boat for two tank dives. We our first dive took place at Wreck of the Rhone, a ship that sank in 1867. We explored the bow and stern sections, and swam near the propellor, whuch was really cool. After a 45 minute surface interval, we drove out to Chromis Reef to explore some coral reef life and record fish in our identification books for practice. I was suprised at how many fish I could name without looking at the book! Then we went to Cooper’s Island for lunch on the beach and scuba dive. During this snorkle, I saw a spotted eagle sting ray, a group of six mantle rays, two baracoudas, and over 50 sea urchins. Casey caught an infamous Lion Fish on her spear gun. Mr. Kirby was a reef hero, pointing out the antagonist to the British Virgin Islands’ coral reef ecosystem. Then we went back to headquaters, got a quick change of clothes, and went to dinner. At dinner, Hector, Alec, and I got group pictures with Casey and Sam. The highlight of my day was getting a picture with Rudy, our boat driver who lived to tell us about getting stung by a lion fish. All in all today was my favorite day of the trip and a great day to almost close the book on this first time adventure!
