Day 9- Getting ready

0

Today was another stuffed day; going from the classroom to the lab and then back, constantly reviewing and discussing our material and preparations for BVI this weekend. It began with Mr.Kirby and Doc discussing an outline of what we would be experiencing at BVI, it felt like the whole class couldn’t wait to run in that Caribbean sand. We then went into the lab and finished our dogshark dissection very quickly, and for me it was a much more effective experience. After a slow walk back to the classroom, we kicked off another round our always interesting article discussions, topped off by Sean and Arturo’s talk about dolphin echolocation and human testing of the mechjanics of that behavior. Following them were Connor and Hector explaining the ecological impacts of increasing ocean temperature on the elkhorn coral. This article in particular was very important to us because it related to the several coral activities we’ve been learning about and to what we will be doing down in BVI. This and many other things we’ve learned throughout the course have strengthened me for my first international research project and visit.

2 days!
