Man, the counselors were not lying when they said that today would be the most physically demanding day!
Luckily, because the day would be the toughest physically speaking, we were allowed to sleep in later. The day started for me at 7:10. I then got ready for the day by heading to breakfast served by the cabin Plum and afterwards hitting the road to the docks. Unlike yesterday, the dives today were devoted to our project (look at the first blog for exactly what the project entails). The islands we visited today were Ginger Island and Cooper island. My job was to search out sponges we could use for our project. I wound up finding 5-6, plenty for one dive. At the second location, I didn’t see as many sponges, but I did see a lot more marine life, including sea urchins, barracudas, jellyfish and some news ones like stingrays and even a green sea turtle. However, my favorite part of the morning was jumping off the second floor of the dive boat into the ocean.
Afterwards, we headed back to the docks for lunch at a restaurant called the Bath Turtle where I had fish and chips. After eating, we took a short 15 minute break and then headed out on a walk to a National Park consisting of massive boulders and caves. Climbing and weaving between them eventually led to an isolated part of the beach where people were swimming. After a short swim, we headed back to the cabins. However, we didn’t walk this time. Instead, we snorkeled all the way back from the national park to the private beach by the cabins. In my opinion, this was the most strenuous activity of the day.
Luckily, we got an hour break after the long snorkel. The break was extremely nice, but at 5:30 I headed over to the commissary, the meeting room, for a spaghetti dinner. The rest of the night consisted of spending time in the commissary chilling, writing this blog, going to the beach, and relaxing in my cabin.
After today, I am extremely tired. Because of this, I plan to hit the sack early. Until tomorrow!
