Day two

The morning started off with an alarm on my iPhone of Apple’s “night owl” ringtone at 7:20. Immediately afterwards, I hopped out of my bed and got dressed for a diving. Today, we were in charge of breakfast so we set that out for the others. After breakfast, we hopped on a ride with Glen to the harbor. Upon arriving, we got all the equipment and hopped onboard. We then took a boat ride over to the fist dive side, which was very choppy and nauseating. At Ginger Steps, the dive site, immediately, more noticeably large waves appeared causing the boat to rock and rock and rock. I got sea sick this time, though I never have in the past. Regardless, I suited up and went down to the reef. We then searched around for a good ten minutes until finding the perfect spot to conduct our experiment. We measured the space out and observed the relationship between algae and reef health. From this dive trip, I learned that sharks will get as close to you as possible without your knowing. After, I got back on the boat and instantly felt sea sick again. This time I was out. When we arrived at the new dive site, ginger backside, I spent the whole time hugging a buoy to get away from the rocking boat, I did not go diving. After the rest of the guys came up, we took the boat back to the harbor and had a lunch. We then went back to our house and got ready to go to the baths. At the baths, we walked through puddles and tight spaces to see the geological wonder. Through the baths we were able to see great rocks with dimples created by pressure pockets in the rock. After going through this world wonder, we went from a 1 mile swim back to our beach. I made it to the beach first, although I was breathing tremendously. Later, I took a shower and got ready for dinner. For dinner we had a delicious spaghetti and meatballs dinner. After dinner, we went down to the beach again to get even more sandier and bitten by mosquitos. I learned from this that the best way to keep from getting bitten is to keep moving! After the beach, we went back to the air conditioned room to watch a documentary about coral. To begin I did not know what it was about. However, as the movie progressed, the notion that the coral is dying and global warming was the cause became drilled into my head. Tomorrow I hope to be able to overcome the sea sickness and be able to see what I saw in the documentary in real life.
