Waking up when you are supposed to be ready to leave is not a good way to start the day, but that is what I did this morning. Again, not a great way to start the day. However, we quickly headed to a hearty breakfast consisting of cereal, bread, yogurt, and some apples. Definitely a good start to a day filled with diving. After breakfast we headed down to the baths, a series of small crevices to crawl through and open-air caves to walk through, both containing at least a small amount of seawater. Walking through the baths we learned about their formation by volcanic lava and rainwater which formed and smoothed the rocks which make the walls and ceilings of the baths. It was definitely an interesting walk through, which ended with us walking out onto a lovely beach. From that beach we waded into the waters, put on our mask, fins, and snorkels, and began to swim on the water surface. During our snorkeling adventure, we saw many fish and began identifying them. We saw small fish, big fish, and red fish and blue fish. We even were able to dive down with our snorkels for however long we could hold our breaths and get a closer look at the fish and coral we had been seeing from the surface. After a lengthy trip identifying fish and taking pictures we arrived at another beach where we ate lunch and had a small review of the fish we would be seeing on our dive and how to tell them apart. We also had a short break during which we swam and snorkeled, looking at some coral and fish around the beach where we had lunch. We also threw a frisbee or two around and chatted while just cooling down in the ocean. Afterwards we took a taxi to the boats and got prepared to once more to dive in the clear waters. Once we arrived at the dive site, and had a laugh at its name(Gingers Backside), we put on our gear and set to embark upon another adventure. During the dive we began to identify various fish without any help(though sometimes with) and swam around looking at many various fish and coral (way more than during the snorkeling bit). This dive was probably the coolest dive we have been on so far, mainly because we saw so many different and colorful fish, including some bigger ones. We even managed to find a lobster hiding under some coral(I tried to take some pictures, but I don’t know if they are any good). I managed to take a lot of pictures and video during the snorkel and dive, so I hope that they all look cool and are not all blocked by my BCD or my random kicking I somehow managed to get in front of the camera.
TL;DR: Today was a huge success, and lots of fun.
