Diving in The Ginger’s Backside

We woke up this morning, refreshed and ready for another day of scuba diving. We awoke a tad later then everyone and quickly gathered our gear, but we were the last cabin to the cattle guard, where we meet daily. From there, we walked to the Internet café where we ate a breakfast of cereal and banana bread. We then walked down the road to The Baths, a series of rock formations created by volcanic magma many years ago. We navigated through these rocks, through various sized crevices, and learned about them until we reached a beach. After, we snorkeled and worked on fish identification, where we observed the fish and their usual location on the reef. We spotted a sting ray and a barracuda today. We snorkeled to the beach right by the Guavaberry Resort and hung out on the beach for a while. Marco and I made a magnificent sandcastle, a structure to be reckoned with and it was fortified beautifully. We then had a more detailed lesson on fish identification, which Caitlyn gave, while we ate lunch on the beach. After, we traveled to the marina and set up gear for our dive of the day. We rode the boat to Ginger’s Backside where we jumped in and dove. There was a ton of coral there and many various types of fish. We practiced identifying these fish based on what they look like and where we were seeing them. After the dive, we helped move the equipment off of the boat and then returned to our cabins to shower before dinner. We then met up to walk to Mad Dogs and it started pouring rain. We all got soaked walking there but had a delicious meal of wraps and pasta. We then played frisbee behind Mad Dogs and walked back to the Internet café. Another fun, but exhausting day in the BVI.
