I signed up for Marine Bio II because of my experience last year in Marine Bio I. Every day in the BVI was great, even the classroom sessions and waking up to Mr. Kirby’s subpar music selection. The staff made it so enjoyable that I had to go back again this year. That being said, seeing Casey, Jeff and Laura again is what I am looking forward to the most. Additionally, I am very excited for turtle tagging and the night dive. Last year was one of the best experiences of my life and when Mr. Kirby promised me an even better trip this year I was sold.
Our first week in class we:
– researched threats to coral colonies for a video project
– shot video
– researched mangroves in conjunction with Marine Bio I
– researched and responded to a hypothetical letter criticizing our coral replanting techniques
– looked at PCR (polymerase chain reaction) and DNA replication in relation to bacteria infected fish
