Today, we all woke up knowing that it would be the last day of diving in the BVI. It was bitter sweet but we knew we would be doing it for a good cause. We transplanted coral today to help environment and eventually create a Jesuit reef. The day started with an early wake up call that I slept through and Alex had to waken me up a little late. I got dressed and we headed straight to the marina. We started with a scope the area out snorkel to find coral that required transplanting. We found many pieces of staghorn coral and a few stalks of elkhorn that needed to be moved from the area. The second dive was a harvesting dive where we went to the sites and broke the coral so that we could plant it later. The next dive, after a surface interval of munchies and sandwiches, was a plant the coral dive. We fastened the coral to rocks with zipties and tags to record the data. We returned to the resort and I took a 2h nap. We went to mad dog and had a dinner of wraps and Mac and cheese, it was great. Alex and I played corn hole again, dominating one aging, winning 2 in a row against hard competitors. Today was bittersweet and I’m looking forward to the community service day tomorrow.
