Turner day 5 blog

2

Today was a fun and fulfilling day. We started off by waking up at 7:30 and eating breakfast down at Mr. Kirby’s cabin. The banana bread and muffins are always so good here. We finished eating and went down to the school wall where we were to do our service project. We were helping an organization called Voices, who help out with everything that is needed in the island. We painted a wall with a white base so that the kids and the islanders could paint murals and designs about their culture. We also filled big planters with soil and dirt to plant palm trees. This was a really fun and fulfilling process. Kyle, the one of the Voices members was really cool and shared some stories about island life and his vacations to the U.S. while we were shoveling the dirt and soil into the planters. After the service site we had lunch at Maddogs which is always really good. When we finished lunch we had two hours of down time before we went to this place called the baths. During down time I hung out on the deck and talked with my friends. From downtime we walked to the baths and took a tour led by Casey. This was awesome. The baths are trails of huge granite rocks created by volcanic activities that are in the water and on land. They are very unique. From the baths we snorkeled all the way back to the resort beach and had a BBQ there. Jeff made awesome burgers and sausages and we hung out on the beach until sun down. The coolest part of the day was the night snorkel we did. We went out with a bunch of flashlights and saw squid, rays, Tarpon, and an octopus. After the awesome night snorkel we headed back to guavaberry and are now about to go to bed. I am excited for turtle tagging tomorrow but I am sad it will be our last day.
