Today was the second to last day! I know I’m gonna miss this place. Anyway today we woke up around 7:15 and Casey brought breakfast to us at our cabins. Today was the first day we didn’t dive, so we were getting ready for our service project. We painted a fence white. So after breakfast we walked over there (it was by the school) and met some of the folks who do this every weekend! One of them was named Kyle. He was really nice and funny. So first we used a sealant on the fence that created a layer for the primer to get painted on. That took around thirty minutes. After that we were ready for the paint. The thick, toxic smelling paint was lathered on to the previous layer. While a few other guys and I did that so the other people planted trees in the pots near the fence. They got really dirty. Then they finished that and everyone finished painting. the painting definitely took a while. A few people had rollers and others had paint brushes. The brushes were for the cracks and the rollers were for the main parts of the fence. Some spots we couldn’t reach so Julian got on joe and andrew’s shoulders to finish the job. It was really funny. After we finished it looked really good. A job well done. Afterwards we went to shower to get off all the paint that was on us and then we went to lunch at mad dogs. we hung out and played games at mad dogs for a couple of hours and then went back to the cabins to rest. At 3:45 we walked back to where mad dogs was to go to the baths. The baths is essentially a beach with multiple granite boulders that make really beautiful. We walked down for a while until Casey gave us a tour of the baths. We walked through many little crevices between the boulders for a while. It is the most photographed thing on the island. It was really cool. the boulders were really slippery so sometimes I had a hard time getting around. Then we got in the water for snorkeling back to guava berry springs (our cabins). Drew was my snorkeling partner again. We saw a lot of elkhorn coral, a lot of damselfish, sea urchins, a parrot fish, an angelfish, a lionfish, a turtle, and of course fire coral on the way back to our cabins. When we got there we hung out at the beach for a while and then had dinner on the beach. Jeff grilled hamburgers for us and we watched the sunset. After dinner everyone but me and Matt went on a night snorkel. Instead I looked at the constellations in the sky. They were quite breathtaking. I even saw a shooting star. You don’t see any of that in Dallas. We finally walked back to the cabins in the dark and I showered.
