All About Basslets

0

The basslet is a small fish of the Grammatidae family, in the order Perciformes that reach no larger than 10 centimeters in length. They are very bright, multicolored fish that are popular in marine aquaria. In the wild, however, basslets can be found in the western Atlantic, as well as the Caribbean. As hermaphroditic fish, basslets are able to adapt to, or change to, the gender that is necessary for reproducing with a potential mate. Basslets are considered carnivorous fish, as their diet consists of smaller fish and shrimp. Basslets are rather territorial and aggressive by nature, so for example, more than one male basslet in an aquarium may be an issue causing them to attempt to harm each other.
