Two Tanks…and a lionfish

1

Today was a great day in the water. We had a great breakfast at the marina and hopped on the boats. The first dive was at the RMS Rhone wreck site. I am sure you have read about this in other posts. It was an awesome experience for the guys. The second dive was an opportunity for them to practice their fish identification skills and they were impressive at it. My group was identifying things left and right, from sponges to invertebrates. I think they will ready for tomorrow when we try and collect data along a transect line. We had an amazing snorkeling adventure during which we saw several ray species and a lion fish. I will take credit for spotting the lionfish; however, major props to Casey for catching/spearing it. We took it back to the marina for a quick dissection by Jeff. We have been talking about lionfish for several weeks now, so it was great for the guys to see one first-hand. As was expected, dinner was excellent. I think we have finally figured out the filling point for the guys…we had leftovers at the Mexican buffet! Below are several pictures. I also encourage everyone to check the Dive BVI Facebook page (no registration required). Simply search for it from Facebook.com. There is a great gallery of pictures, courtesy of the Dive BVI staff. Several of the pictures attached to this post and previous posts were from Samantha and Casey at Dive BVI. Until tomorrow…
