Today I dove twice in the morning and rested all afternoon. This morning we went back to a dive cite along the wall. While diving I saw schools of black durgon which are actually quite easy to tell apart from other fish because its fins are located on the top and bottom and wave in the water. Next I saw a couple blue tang and some juvenile blue tang. The juvenile blue tang is all yellow which is really weird because as it grows up it becomes all blue. I am not sure why or how that happens but it could have something to do with the fact that the spine of a blue tang is toxic and maybe as the tang matures it becomes more toxic. This toxin could turn the tang blue. Next I saw another hawksbill turtle which I was able to identify by looking at the back of the shell and seeing jagged edges at the end. I almost ran completely out of air on this dive so when I got back up to the surface I talked to Mr. Allen and asked him for tips so I wouldn’t use that much air. Trying out those tips on the second dive I was able to make it back on the boat with enough air and have a longer dive. On the second dive I saw another hawksbill turtle and I was also able to identify this one by using the jagged edges on the back of the shell. I also saw a huge porcupine fish, this fish was surprisingly calm because when I swam closer to it trying get a better video of it the current pushed me extremely close to the fish. I was way to close from comfort and I was scared it was gonna puff up into a ball and sting me. The poison from a single sting is 1200 times more potent than cyanide. I would not want to get stung by that cause that has the ability to kill me. Another reason why that would be bad is it causes the fish a ton of stress to become a ball and I would not want to put excess stress on the fish. I believe scuba diving is not harmful to the environment or bad in any way if the scuba diver does not touch anything or chase after animals and surround them. If I was a fish and a bunch of animals I have not seen before surrounded me and they were twice my size I would be extremely worried and stressed. Tomorrow we are diving at the kittiwake and I hope to see some cool fish like a goliath grouper and not put any unnecessary stress on the fish.
