Today was our final day in the caymans and we had 2 of the best dives of the trip when it comes to sea life. It was an absolutely perfect way to end our dives and the trip.
The two dives we went on were called Sand Hole Reef and Ocean Pointe. During Sand Hole we maxed our depth out at 80 feet around these mound like coral reefs with very up and down terrain. The second dive, Ocean Pointe, was around 40 feet with a flatter terrain but the coral reef was very large in area. This was the most eventful dive with sea life because we saw so many rare species to witness on a dive. We saw 2 sea turtles and a lemon ray. The two sea turtles were hawkbills and you can identify them by there heart shaped shell with a spiky rear shell. Also the have a beak like mouth and a brown green shell. They typically grow to 3 feet in length but the two we saw was a little smaller. Hawksbills are spread around the entire world and aren’t specific to one area. The other amazing specie we spotted was a lemon ray. They can be identified by its orange and black color but deeper down appears almost gray and green which allows it to blend in. Due to this the lemon ray tends to swim towards the bottom of the ocean but usually in coral reefs. The ray we saw was about 2 feet in its body and another foot including its tail. This was an amazing trip with incredible diving and I will remember this forever.
