Day 7

The final day, after a long trip it finally comes to an end. This was one of the most fun trips I’ve ever been a part of, our group was amazing and really fun to be around. Today we took our last two dives the first was at The Sand Hole, and Ocean Pointe. At the Sand Hole, named for a small beach that breaks the rocky north shore, we saw two hawksbill sea turtles. These are different from other turtles as they have a beak which gives them their name, and a jagged shell. We saw the turtles snacking on their favorite meal, sea sponges, these make up a large portion of the hawksbills diet. Next after our 45min surface interval we moved on to Ocean Pointe, named after the set of apartments that are next to it. This was a good dive for us, the coral was very healthy and large. Also I was able to spot some of the stars from recent days such as the Lionfish with its poisonous barbs, and the long trumpetfish. I was just able to see the Lionfish through a small hole in its cave, it was accompanied by some small yellow snapper. The trumpet fish was roaming the reef looking for a suitable spot to hide itself. Another thing we saw was a small black fish with bright blue spots on its head I saw multiple of these fish today and they were beautiful however I still do not know the name of it. After this dive we were given time to rest and recover before dinner. We were treated to a cookout for our last night, a celebration of a great week. After our dinner we moved upstairs to a media room where we held our own prayer service which allowed us as a group to reflect on our week, along with helping us to grow in a spiritual way.
