Marine Biology day 9

0

Today in class we learned about echolocation in dolphins, the nervous system in a dogfish shark, and effects of temperature on Elkhorn coral. Dolphins use clicks to sense where its prey is and make a more precise assumption on where it may move. They increase their number of clicks per second as they close in on their prey to be sure they are going to get their target. Dogfish sharks have a very unique nervous system. Their nerves more so control sight, spinal movement, and fin movement. Finally, Elkhorn coral has been known to grow best in temperatures between 70-85 and these temperatures help the coral grow and thrive. These topics relate to our class because when we go down into the water we will know how to recognize these marine organisms and understand their behavior in the water.
