We started off today with a two tank dive. I saw many of the reef fish we talked about in class: raccoon fish, saddle wrasse, moorish idols, and parrot fish. I also saw three octopi and a green sea turtle. I identified the green turtle from the shell. We also a saw a frog fish on a rock and a couple eels. We also went through a lava tube.
Later we went back to NELHA and we were debriefed on the black water dive. We learned about how the deep water animals migrate to shallow water at night to feed. This is the largest migration by biomass in the world. We also learned about how little we actually know about that life. They explained to us that the dive will be disorienting because of the darkness. We also met Joshua Lambus, a black water photographer. makafineart.com
