After a multitude of hours flying around the globe, we have finally touched down in Kona, Hawaii. We moved in quickly and ate until our bellies had their fill. Once we settled in, our leaders gave us an overview of the week ahead. Personally, I am most excited and nervous for the black water night dives. The disorientation of jumping into absolute darkness and floating as if in outer space intimidates, but I wish to brave my fear. I’m excited to see some of the most beautiful and fascinating creatures the ocean has to offer, and Friday couldn’t seem closer. Along with the night dive, I am also looking forward to visiting Maura Kea’s summit tomorrow. Now we rest and try to adapt to the five hour time change…
Until tomorrow,
Owen Spencer
