Day 4

Today we woke extra early to provide food for our fellow travelers in the form of cereal, protein bars, and honey buns. We got up at 8:15 and made sure to show the cabin pride by spelling lime time in cereal boxes and protein bar. After that we went to the wifi room to get a briefing on the importance of tagging turtles and how we were to catch them. After that, my group headed down to the beach to go looking for invertebrates where Dawson found a octopus hiding in a shell. We watched it while it reached for things we put in the water bucket it was in and tossing it back out. After that we went out to the ocean and attempted to catch turtles. I got 5 feet from a turtle before it swam away and I felt frustrated I couldn’t catch one. Then we got dragged along by the boat looking for turtles and I had trouble putting my snorkel above the waves created by the boat and we only saw one turtle which the group chased to shallow water but I didn’t because my legs were tired and I could barely get myself to swim. After that we ate dinner and worked on our projects before watching and discussing a documentary on coral reefs and their decline in order to prepare us to work on the coral nursery tomorrow. I’m looking forward to seeing the coral nursery tomorrow and working with it to make a difference in working with saving coral reefs.
