days 1 and 2

After waking up at 4AM to get dressed and go to the airport, I knew this was going to be a special trip. 3 flights and 3 hours of layover later, I found myself filling out a immigration form to enter the British Virgin Islands. Later that night we met our hosts Jeff and Casey who run Dive BVI. We took their boat to get from Beef Island to our little island. On that first ride on the boat I knew that the long travel day was worth the travel day. Once we made it to our cabin I settled in, played a game of cards, and found myself struggling to go to sleep with the anticipation for the next day. I woke up at 5:30 to the sound of roosters crowing during the sunrise. After walking around, we soon started our activities for the day. The teachers introduced us to more instructors who presented power points about the formation of the virgin islands and the marine life that lives here. Finally the highlight of day 2 had came, the first scuba dive of the week. The first dive planned for the week happened to be the “world famous” chimney dive that was named Jacque Casteau’s favorite dive in the BVI. After a quick refresher on the safety tips, we slipped into the 50ft visibility clear water.our team captain, Caitlin, led us to some incredible fish and sights. while I was filming on my Go-Pro Doc snapped a photo of me swimming through the chimney. After an hour of diving through the chimney, we headed back to Virgin Gorda to sum up the day with pizza at Mad Dog’s.
