Walking into the classroom today with the knowledge I had just learned about the mechanics of marine study, I wondered in the vast possibilities of what I would be leaning today, not knowing what would actually be presented my way. I learned we would talking about the whole subject of plate techtonics and the layers of the earth and their reactions with the Earth. “This is Earth Science” I thought to myself, “how could this relate to Marine science at all?? Well today that was exactly what I learned. Earth science actually has a strong connection to marine biology, and that is the different layers of the Earth(ie the inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust) all play off each other ina sort of way. That is, excluding the solid iron inner core, the mantle, outer core and crust all are moving becuase of the molten-rock contents underneath, and in turn control the movements of the sea and ocean currents, being that the shared ocean bottom is the outer part of the crust. Therefore, all marine life is affected too, because a majority of them depend on the currents and properties of ocean rock for their survival.

Below is a picture of a diagram of a volacano erupting the magma contents out due to two crust plates pushing together because of the movement of the earth layers I talked about earlier and creating a fault in the crust.
