Day 3

Surprisingly Today did not start with Clayton walking me up. It started when I woke up at 7:15. After waking up, I jumped in the shower and then walked down to the internet office to eat breakfast, which was chocolate donuts. During breakfast Dr. Gore, a turtle doctor, gave us another talk, but this time it was about...

Day3

Today was a fairly big day. We started with breakfast at the commissary again and listen to a great presentation from our friend, Dr. Shannon Gore. Dr.Gore's presentation focused on the different species of turtles found in the BVIs and there life cycles. Apparently loggerheads have five scutes on the back rather than the typical four and leather backs...

Day 3

Today began with another early morning. After eating breakfast at the bottom of the hill, we had a great presentation about tagging turtles. We learned about the different types of turtles in the BVI. We also learned that turtles do not stay in one place all the time, they are constantly changing locations and nesting on different beaches around...

Day 3 in BVI

Man oh man was this morning early. I'm almost sure I didn't sleep more than a few minutes. Anyway, after a nice breakfast and a very well done presentation from Dr. Shannon Gore on sea turtles, we packed up and headed out to try and tag some ourselves. In the presentation Dr. Gore mentioned how over time sea...

Day 3 in the BVI

Day 3 Great third day in the BVI. I woke up bright and early at 7 to numerous bird sounds. They were very loud and obnoxious. After a quick shower, I headed down to the commissary to have breakfast. It consisted of assorted fruits, pop tarts, donuts, and yogurt. Staying at the commissary, we were then lectured by Dr. Shannon...

Day Three

Today started off with a chocolate donut at the Internet cafe at Guavaberry from Casey. The breakfast is always great and I enjoyed it very much. After breakfast we had another talk for Dr. Gore. The talk was concerning turtles because we were going turtle tagging later that day. The power point was very interesting and I liked everything...

Day 3 BVI – Round 2

My cabin woke up a little late today and we scrambled to get ready only to be the first cabin down for breakfast. Casey again so kindly had everything already prepared for us when we came down to eat. Dr. Gore made another presentation to us during our meal on sea turtles. She reintroduced to us the defining features...

Eventful day 3 on the island

Once again woken up around 7:30, but this time by Mr Kirby. I was experiencing a tremendous sleep, so I was frustrated to have to awake, but once I remembered that today we would be diving in and snatching turtles I was ready to go. Once again we were treated to a nice quick breakfast. We...

Day 3

Today began as a déjà vu, with an early morning and a light breakfast here at Guavaberry. While we ate our breakfast, Doctor Shannon Gore talked to both classes about sea turtles. She went over the types, nesting areas, threats, and techniques we can use to catch them. When she finished, everyone got there stuff, loaded up into the...
